I underestimated this from cask as there is excellent purity of expression on the nose with a floral red fruit quality followed by remarkably detailed flavors of solid intensity if not necessarily great density with a purity and length that are impressive

A brooding and intensely earthy nose features notes of dark berries

toasted grains and honey develop hints of smoky minerals and pungent flowers

Good stuff and because of the velvety palate feel

layered finish with lingering exotic spice and black berry preserves notes

Occidental (Kistler), Freestone-Occidental Vintage:2022 I underestimated this from caskMedium ruby purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Freestone Occidental has super intense notes of redcurrants, black raspberries, black cherries and violets with hints of dark chocolate, cinnamon stick and smoked meats plus a waft of underbrush. Wonderfully elegant in the mouth with vibrant black and red fruits, earth and savory layers, it has a firm frame of finely grained tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing long with an exciting herbal lift.
